and yes, I wish had my sight on a nice hind.....but I digress. Here's the link to my thread on my Holley 750 rebuild - model 4150 part 9379.
Holley rebuild questions
I now have the car running fine after a crash course in carb re-building and tuning. Also owe it to a $100 bill and getting someone who knows what he's doing to do the tuning. Car seems to be running very well with the ProForm body and throttle plate, but I've also changed jets, power-valve, put a 1/2" spacer on, 50cc accelerator pumps, bigger shooters and had it adjusted by a pro. So, it's hard to say what the net effect is of the ProForm stuff.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably throw down on the Demon and bolt it on and be done. That said, I learned a lot and it was an interesting project. If I'd just bought the Demon I'd still be basically just as ignorant about carbs as I was when I started.
Lets see, if I add up what I spent, in round numbers it looks something like this:
- Proform Body $100
- Proform throttle plate $130
- Holley jet kit $80
- Holley trick kit $80
- Carb cleaner and misc stuff $30
- 4.5 Power valve $15
- Spacer that was too thick - $45
- Spacer that was just right - $35
- 2 50cc accelerator pumps - $80
- Nitrophyl floats -$25
So that's about $620 - (yikes - this was the first time I added it all up). Oh yeah, and the $100 to get it tuned and adjusted. That makes the Mighty Demon look like a pretty good deal.
Oh well, I've got this money tree in the back yard that needs fertilizer now. The real test will be when I get it on the Dyno. If I don't see something from all this, then I will be PO'd.
Interesting thread - just wish it had been here 4 weeks ago!
Cheers!
