Default Roush vs. FRE

I am purchasing an ERA FIA and will put a 289-based small block in it. I think I've narrowed it down to an FRE 347, or one of the Roush crate engines, like the 342R.

My intent is to drive the car on as many nice days as possible, and to take it to a handful of track events each year. So, I would like something that is drivable and reliable on the street, but fun and durable on the track as well.

Other than the price difference (think the Roush motor is a couple grand more than the FRE) does anyone have insight into the primary differences between these motors?

Does anyone have experience with either one?

Are there other engine builders whom I should consider?

Do either of these motors seem like a logical choice, given how I would like to use the car?

Thanks in advance for your replies and comments.

Marc

Marc, I guess by FRE you mean Ford Racing. One of the crate motors?

I'd look at the warranty offered by both also. Only recently did Ford offer a warranty on their crate engines.
