351 one-piece rear main seal
I'm having a problem and I hope some of the more experienced builders can give me some advice. I'm using the Dart big-bore block with the Cleveland mains (4 bolt) and the Fel-pro seal that Dart recommends. The seal fits over the crank flange and snugs up against the block and rear cap OK, but every time I try to torque the caps down the seal pops out. I have it pointed in the right direction, and I've been using RTV blue to seal the outer seal, but it still pops out (3 times now) which means the crank and caps come out and get cleaned for the next try. I'm only home every two weeks and this little adventure has eaten up this weekend's work time. I switched up to RTV red and snugged the caps back down and left it to cure for two weeks, but I'm considering using something more "permanent" than RTV, as there doesn't seem to be much holding the seal in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
