Can anyone tell me how to remove a camshaft from a 302?

You're gonna have to give more info than that.....is it carbureted, fuel injected? Is the engine 100% assembled?

it's for a carb and it's pretty much assembled. It's missing the lower intake manifold carb and oil pan and missing the other front engine components like water pump, timing cover, and distributor..oh and it's missing the oil pump

You just wanting to pull it out?

Take the valve covers off, unbolt the rocker arms and twist them out of the way enough that you can pull the pushrods out.

Pull the lifters out of the lifter galley.

Unbolt the cam retainer plate on the front of the block.

Put a long bolt in the front of the cam to use as a handle....pull it out slowly....have someone else help you....don't let the cam bounce up and down as you pull it out, or you'll nick the cam bearings. Be easy.

BTW....carb'd engines don't have upper and lower intakes like fuel injected engines do.....

Have you got the timing chain off? If not, you need to remove it also....when you pop the cam gear off, you'll see the hole you need....there will be a dowel right next to it. To get the timing chain off, take the bolt out of the cam first.....then "walk" the gear off the dowel....you can leave the crank gear on for now.
