Question Cat Crankshaft?????

On EBAY I see listings for crankshafts manufactured by CAT.

We have for auction the latest effort from CAT power engine parts. This is a New 4340 steel Ford Windsor crankshaft with a standard 2.750" main size and a standard 2.100" x 1.900" standard SBC rod size and a 4.000" stroke. It is balanced for a 1920 bob weight and is cross drilled. All journal surfaces are gas nitrited for superior wear. We are impressed with this new effort from CAT and I think you will be as well. Good bidding!

Does anyone know anything about this company and this crank?
Thanks
Dwight

You sure it's not Scat?

Also, a 351W does not have 2.75" mains....they have 3.00" mains. This crank may be for one of the motorsport or dart blocks with Cleveland mains...

Default CRANKS

THEY HAVE BOTH 3" AND 2.75" MAINS ON THE WINDSOR CRANKS. IT'S YOUR CHOICE, BUT IF YOU USE THE CLEVELAND STYLE CRANK YOU HAVE TO BUY A FEDERAL MOUGAL SPACER KIT FOR $70 AND HAVE IT LINE BORED IN THE WINDSOR BLOCK. WHAT I LIKE IS YOU HAVE A 7500 RPM BOTTOM END WITH A BETTER OILING SYSTEM THAN THE CLEVELAND BLOCK HAS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST OF BOTH ENGINES. I NEED MORE INFO. BUT I'LL NEED GOOD HEADS THAT WILL TURN 7500 RPMS.

I'VE GOT TO BUILD A SMALL BLOCK THAT WILL KEEP UP WITH THE BIG BLOCK BOYS!!!!

My best friend bought one and I didn't care for it. It was padkaged poorly and didn't look as good as an eagle or scat.

Question CAT CRANK

DENNIS

DID HE HAVE THE CRANK BALANCED? DID HE BALANCE THE ROTATING ASSEMBLY? HOW EASY WAS IT TO BALANCE?

Cobra Make, Engine: Classic 427, I purchased it May 2005, the kit was bought in 1991. I'm not sure when it was completed! Installed GMPP Connect & Cruise 376/525 with T-56 S/M 3.55 gears about 2 years ago! 1/4 miles is with old setup!

My engine guy will not use anything made by CAT! I got a new damper in some trading, he said the best thing to do with it was drop it in the trash barrel on my way out the door! He lost a lot of money with there parts and will not use anything they make! This was a few years ago, they may have gotten better?

I bought an aluminum water pump and Aluminum roller rockers from CAT. Both held up very good.

I've heard some people who bought their stainless steel rocker arms weren't so fortunate. They seized and caused major damage.

Good luck!
