Default Starter motor

For any of you small block Ford guys, do any of you have an after market starter in your engine from Powermaster ( through Summit) which has its own solenoid? In addition to the dash mounted solenoid. I have one on my E-M 418 small block. It came with directions to re connect the battery cable to the same terminal as the starter cable on the original solenoid with a jumper wire on the opposite large terminal going down to the new starter solenoid on the starter. This caused my to MELT two wires in the wiring harness. I could use some advise on this, the E-M wiring diagram doesn't show it done this way. A call to Powermaster for advise got me some really snotty tech who couldn't be bothered with my problem.

Steve, I have a high torque starter on my 351 W. It also has the solenoid on the starter and one on the firewall. I ran a heavy gauge wire fron the same large post that goes to the starter to the solenoid. Or you could just run a jumper from the starter cable to the solenoid.
