Oil filter question

To those of you puzzled by my question about a fuel filter and I really meant oil filter, I apologize. I am asking (for real) the following question: Does anyone have handy the filter numbers for the "short" oil filters used for clearance problems between the frame and a 351W?

The filter I can find that works is an AC-Delco PF 13. I don't know if this is a good filter for a 351W or not. Other “short” filters don’t provide enough clearance to spin the filter on. I prefer not to remote mount my oil filer.

And bkozlow: If you are talking about the oil filter, I use a Mobil 1--109 filter to replace the M1-3001 full size filter. Mobil 1 filters are expensive but are considered one of the three best filters on the market.

Basicly there are 2 main filter types, with or without internal bypass. If you have a system with provisions to bypass the filter if it becomes to restrictive (built in the engine) and not in the filter then for the most part is a Ford type application.
Some filters have this bypass built into the filter, if restriction hits a set value it then bypasses AT the filter, this type is used by GM. Where things get sticky is when a remote filter base is installed and you do not consider types or if mixing systems.
It is OK to install 2 bypass points but avoid installations with no bypass anywhere.

FL 300 by Motorcraft. Its a short FL1A. I've never used the gm one but I have used a mopar one. Motorcraft is cheap and effective in my opinion. the fl300 is about an inch shorter.

Rob I don't know what you mean by shorter, the Mobil-1 standard filter is 5 1/4" long and the one I am recommending is 2 7/8" long. The short one is Mobil number 1-109. I don't see how a filter can ever be shorter than that.

If you want short filters look at the newer production cars. I can tell you GM #'s as that's what my grub getter is. An AC Delco PH-52 is a metric thread and darn small. It is about 2 1/2 inch long or less with a OD of about 3" also.
They do sell remote single and dual filter mounts for the newer metric sizes so if you need something that small look in that direction. I am sure the Ford V6 uses 1 about the same size. Good hunting and luck.

By "short" I do mean length. I have tried the Fram filters and they are about 3/4" or so long. The AC/Delco is a little shorter and will fit. I was just wondering if there is anything about the AC PF13 that might be a problem and was wondering what others were using. Great information from vettestr on the site he mentioned; thanks.
