Default Roush 392al,tamed fast

just got spf#1739 september, plenty of driving do to delayed winter, loving life.the 392al is rated at 430hp sounded great for the first 100 miles.time for a winter project, current heads are 178cc intake volume,64cc chamber,194intake & 154 exhaust valves.the afr's look nice,is the 205 too much ? can i use the existing hyd.roller cam, intake, & carburetor, the chamber on these will bring the compression ratio up a bit, will pump gas still be o.k ?
thanks,
tim

Default Heads

I would find out from Roush what type of pistons are in the motor. The AFR 205 probably will require piston notches. You might want to look at the 185's they have a 2.02 intake and a 1.60 exhaust. Also find out if your header will match the 205's if you use them. I know the AFR 165 and 185 have stock exhaust location (ie no raised port) not sure about 205's. If I was doing heads I'd do a matching cam also. You may want to just dyno tune what you have and drive it for a season and then upgrade. There may be some horsepower on the shelf. Good luck it sound like you have a fun ride.
Good luck

Dennis
