Default Junk Motor

Have any of you guys ever heard of a fuel injection leaning out off idle and trashing a motor to where 6 of 8 cylinders were 30% of the 2 decent cylinders on a compression test? By the way, the engine has less than 10 miles on it.

If you're talking about compression pressure, are you sure the rings are seated?

Motor was built by an engine builder and dynoed before delivery. He is blaming the feul injection guy and the fuel injection guy is blaming the engine builder. Both have been paid and everything is supposedly warrantied, but guess who is stuck in the middle.

I'm don't know, but if the cars doesn't get gas then I would think it stops running and doesn't affect the motor. I say make them both pay half of the expense to fix it.

Well, it is possible that it was run on the dyno under a too lean condition and burned holes in some of the pistons although I would think they could tell that right away with a dyno hooked up. Only way to tell what happened is to remove a head and have a look at the pistons. You can't point a finger until you know exactly what went wrong.

Dyno runs usually have exhuast connected to a/f sensor. I have just never heard of a lean fuel mixture causing such a great amount of damage in less than 10 miles most of which was less than 40 mph. I would think it had to be mechanical like the timing jumped way in advance and caused detonation or something.

Hey excaliber, you have already made this stupid comment. Are you not spamming yourself now? The hypocrisy of some people never ceases to amaze me and they are usually the worst offenders. Give it a rest dude.

Oops, I MISSED one of your THREE THREADS on this subject. I should find it and post a SPAM warning there as well.

Like you, just trying to cover all the spam bases.

It is not good form to ask the same question over and over in various forums, you don't seem to get it.

Default Update

Heads were removed. Pistons/cylinders show no signs of being burnt or excessivley worn. Engine is going on a stand next Monday and pistons will be pulled to check the rings. That leaves valves out of time with the pistons. Since it was dynoed at 650hp you gotta think the cam somehow slipped way out of time. It never did idle very well, but we attributed that to the injection needing fine tuning.

I am getting this 3rd hand so I have questions also.

Thanks Arcy, poor Bud has really be struggling with this. I think we will have him back on the road before spring and for sure before Byron. He should be a real contender.

Don't worry about the coconut, he reminds me of a drunk in the corner that is always mouthing off that nobody listens to. It makes him happy so you just leave him alone with it.

It would appear the Junk Motor "Fuel Injection" thread is the winner. Jeffko, Snake Oil, you might want to search out the other TWO threads and see what you've missed!

...freakin' spam...

Yeah, how about we channel it to the moderator. DONE!

Jeffko, you should have the common decency to alert the members you ARE running thread threads on the same subject and POST the necessary links in EACH on of them to cross reference. It's called 'NETiquette' (also known as courtesy).
