Question Valve cover gaskets for Roush 402

I think one of my valve gaskets is seaping when the engine warms up.

Any recommendations regarding the BEST replacement valve cover gasket for a Roush 402. Also, any tricks or tips for installing the valve gaskets so they don't leak?

Doug

Did you check the bolt torque? It should be around 60-75 lbs./in. If they still leak, try a set of Ford Motorsport M-6584-A50 rocker cover gaskets. Steel core with a bonded o-ring on each side. Ford used these in production towards the end of the 5.0/5.8 run because they solved a lot of leak issues. They can be reused, too. If you have an old Roush engine with the plastic plug wire looms under the valve cover bolts, get rid of 'em. They now use billet aluminum pieces that allow the bolts to hold torque far better and they look a lot nicer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks camr.

Does anyone know the part number for an equivalent Fel-Pro Valve cover gasket for a 351W?

I took a look at Summit Racing and found FPP-1645, which is Cork/Rubber with steel core.

I use NAPA gaskets - rubber with a steel core. I used silicone on the vocer side, nothing on the head side. I'v had the valve covers off many times, and still no leaks. Best gasket I'v ever used.

Default Gaskets

I have had no problems ever using Moroso number 93060, Blue colored valve cover gaskets. They are rubber molded over a steel frame. They are not cheap but do a great job. You should be able to get them at your local hot rod shop or Summit or Jegs. Even, if they don't show them in their catalog you just give either of the big distributors the catalog number and you can get it through them.. However, I recommend looking for a local source.
