World 460 All-Aluminum Windsor
Here is our first all aluminum 460 Limited Edition Man OWar. It made 60HP more than the first 427 Hardcore version. It also weighs 399Lbs.

Nice torque curve, but wouldn't that be easier to do with a big block?

558 ft-lbs at 3500 rpm???
HOW are you ever gonna get a Cobra moving with this from a stoplight?
Please post often on how well they sell - I'm poised to buy lots of Goodyear and Yokohama stock.

Custom alum block and heads...I will guess $26,500 carb to pan, plus shipping. With that intake, possible clearance issues in a Cobra.
Drag radials and a straight axle would also need to be ordered.

Well yes, our aluminum Merlins do 680 or so at 3500 but they weigh 480Lbs. We don't "do" 385's however.
Turnpike,
Also I think buy Avon stock...
This all-aluminum is $14,695 as seen, which we think is a tremendous value when view against our competitors. Of course the iron version is $2500 less and makes identical power and weighs 510Lbs.
Details can be found here:
http://theengineshop.com/prods_pages/102075.htm
And for the faint of heart and wallet, the 427 Hardcore aluminum version is here:
http://theengineshop.com/prods_pages/102060.htm
This one made 50HP more than it's rating.
Sincere thanks to all for the enthusiastic response!

Very nice indeed!! Too bad I don't need an engine, guess I'll just have to drive my car a little harder and maybe the 'need' will be there. (hehe). I would love to see one of these bad boys in a Cobra locally. Let us/me know if you plan on doing a demo with a Cobra.
PS: I'll supply the car, you supply the engine, in case you need a 'volunteer'.

Slo,
Actually a very nice fellow and his wife, who are Nick's customers has our 427 Cruiser in his SPF and is very happy.
Of course it's not aluminum so I'll have to hound him to make the switch...

More reasonably priced than I expected (all things relative)! That's a lot of cubes for a SB...

Our 870 4150 and this 1050 4500 are built to our spec by AED and they are beautifully done. These idle on our dyno at 1000 RPM and has a seamless transition. Much the same as the 1308CFM quads on my FE, which has very nearly the same duration and slightly less lift. Also 33 less cubic inches.
It's as streetable as mine, which is my point.

What was changed on the engine to bump it up from the 575hp that it originally had? Camshaft?

I assume that this is a pump gas engine. I would think that with that many cubic inches and a solid roller with a dominator carburetor you would be closer to 675HP. What head and intake did you use on this package? I noticed it is a single plane intake. This looks like your new raised runner race head which I would assume takes a custom header. Looks nice and it is a Ford.

WP,I would like to see some numbers using your six bolt heads.
For you guys who don't look past the shiney aluminum, Word Products is the first aftermarket co. to produce a Ford block with six head bolts per cyl., just like the GM blocks that don't blow head gaskets so easily. They also have a matching head with the largest exhaust ports I have ever seen in an inline Ford head.
WP you are welcome for the endorsment and you can send me the new block and heads anytime .

blykins,Keith,
No, not a cam change. The fact of the matter is, when the 460 prototype was built we had big dish pistons .020 in the hole. Although rated at 575 it was actually making 590-598. We knew there was more in it and ordered new custom Manleys which are 4.155 x 1.055/ w/16cc dish. We decked the block to get .010 in the hole, which all our builds are now. (Except Warhawk which is +.005) This yields 11.3 with our 64cc chamber and yes we run it at 30 degrees on pump gas.
The cam has always been a roller, .621 / .627, 254 / 260 w/110LSA. With minor jet change we picked-up to the 612-618 level consistently. I convinced Bill we should change the advertised rating to 600. If you make a rating that you sometimes don't meet by even 1-2HP, some guy will call (or write on the web) and say we gypped him. (Ask how we know). All our ratings are intentionally slightly conseravative to avoid this. Remember, we dyno engines when CAT is 30 or 40 in Jan. or 85-90 in Aug. That can mean 4-8HP. So they don't go out of here unless they're no lower than their rating. Some have been amazingly higher.
Keith, of course you're asking the sharp questions and here's that story. All our SBF builds that required 4500's were built with Vic. Jr.s and an Ede. adaptor for the 4500 flange. Not very pretty. Shortly after the 460 was running, our Man O'War single plane intake, designed with John K. from CHI was complete and available. We swapped that on and right at the top (6000 to 6400) we began to consistently get in the 620-625 range.
Cranky,
That brings us to the new design heads, in this case the 18 degree Man O'War (Bill loves that name...) 235cc head. Our previous head was the full CNC, 2.08x 1.60 200cc head-a very competent piece. The new head is "as-cast" (so far) and the port locations are stock. Only touched for a bowl blend. The special feature is the fact that runners and chambers are the same technology as our Warhawk LS heads which no Ford ever had before. When Bill gets an idea, he just builds it.
Those heads on the 460 got us a consistent 630-635, the gain all right at the top, (6000-6400). They were within 2-4HP from 3500 to 6000 with our CNC's. That's an as-cast head vs. CNC. Clearly there's room for development in the new head. So 460's are going out right about 625-635 on pump gas.
If anyone is not snoring yet, here's news from last week.
A set of these heads went on a 427 Drag build last week which normally sees 625-635HP. This is a C-14 engine with 13.75 CR., 696 / 683 cam. We normally pull these from 4000-7500. This one made 671 at 6800 and leveled-off at 7100. About a 40HP improvement. We didn't know the head was this good until we added 800 RPM to the test range.
Yes, the 6-bolt head will be good too but they're not here yet. Hopefully, December. They are raised intake and exhausts and sheetmetal only for right now. We're going to sell them "No Valve Job" at first for the NMCA/NMRA crazies who use 40 lbs boost all the time.
Sadly the 427's and 460's with our intake will not fit unnoticed in a Cobra (Or my ERA would have an aluminum one). However Cobra (and Pantera) guys have ordered them with Ede dual planes and 4150 / 870's and made 25 less HP but 30 MORE LbFt lower in the range. It's all good.
Roger, what's that address to send your TEE SHIRT?
Er-this was all told to me by "Manowar" CC Sponsor.
