Why go thru all that? - get an aluminum wheel and get the same results with less aggravation. They work just fine, no warping issues, Fidenza's have replaceable friction faces (if you ever need it), etc.
Lightening a steel wheel would present some issues, I would think. Hope you've got a scattershield on the car, for starters. You would have to cut a bunch off the face of the wheel to take much weight off, too, and not certain how that would affect the clutch assembly - less thread contact for pressure plate bolts, strength of ring gear contact, etc.
All are maybes....except for using an aluminum wheel. Works great on a street car.
