Default Need Oil Slinger for SBF

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an oil slinger for a 289 Ford engine? It’s a cupped washer that fits between the crank timing gear and harmonic damper and keeps most of the oil in the timing cover off the back of the crankshaft seal. It was probably a $2 part back then, but I can’t seem to find one without buying a whole engine!

Any leads would be appreciated. I already tried DSC Motorsports…his response, “all out, call back next month, I may have one then”

Thanks,

Gary

Should be the same as a 302/ 5.0 engine. Have you tried the Ford dealer for one using those engines. The 289 part probably isn't listed or is called "obsolete", but one for a 302 should be easy to locate.

The oil slinger has been discontinued by Ford, and is not available new. Also, it will not fit under a late model 5.0 timing chain cover, without some mods to the cover. Due to improvements in seal technology, Ford decided the slinger wasn't necessary.

Locally, your best bet is a junk yard......
How many do you need?????? I probably have at least a half dozen, you can have one, just tell me were to send it to....

Do you want one that's all nice and grimy like it came off the motor or one that's been cleaned up and bead blasted to look new?????????????

Let me know........I can get it out to you by tomorrow morning, after that I'm heading to the camp for the holiday weekend.......

Gary;

I know what it's like to have to search junk yards for parts and get nickel and dimed to death, so since buildng my shop about ten years ago, I throw away almost nothing.........

The other day I was looking for something and came across a five gallon bucket 3/4 full of head bolts for a 302 and 351s..when ever I tear down a motor, I save all the little things like the slinger and put them in five gallon buckets or army surplus wood ammo boxes.....never know when you'll need a part or extra bolts.....
I'm always using the old head bolts for some project.....

I finally threw away two original Ford cast iron 4V intakes for a 351-W....saved them for soo long and nobody wanted them, one day while cleaning up, I decided I was tired of moving those heavy things out of the way......you know, a few months later someone was looking for one.....

The way I figure it, if I have a spare, chances are I'll never need it,meaning my junk will not brake down, but throw it away and within 3 days, you'll need it......happens every time........

Glad I could help you out............

David

So, do you really need one? I thought I read that if you are using a double roller timing set, the slinger just gets in the way and you need to bend it for clearance?
