Default Oil Weights -- POLL.

I had the idea to open up some basic topics to help the newbies / non-wrench turners to care for their cobras.

In so, getting a sense of SBF oil feeding and care.

how many quarts in your cobra, what type of oil do you use etc.

In my personal experience; I am a fan of Mobil1 and have run it for years, it looks like my SBF in SPF 2734 will be a 7-9 quart ordeal as I have a 5qt pan, oil cooler and remote filter.

What are you running >?

Roush recomended 10w-30 non-synthetic for my egine when new. I continued to use Castrol 10w-30 with oil changes every 500 miles or so. With 99% of the driving being really casual and only a few seconds of acceleration here and there I really believe this is a good option for the type of driving.

Rotella T 15-40. Have heard many first-hand stories about this stuff saving flat tappet cams / lifters. It still has the zinc phos that used to be in all the older oils but was removed for emission purposes. You should look for the CI-4 Plus label.
Hot Rod Magazine has some good articles on this issue.

Nah, he'd probably get a rash if he saw an FE. Either that, or his fishin dog would fall over dead.
