Default 302 or not?

I need help in checking my engine number, i havent actually checked the number myself but on the invoice dated 1992 it says CR1102X, can this be right?

I would guess that's someone's inventory #, it's not a Ford #. Look above the starter on the block and that will be the location of the block casting #, that should help verify size & year.

if you find part numbers on things (ford made things ) they can be decoded on when they were made and i am sure you can decode the engine castings on WHAT they were originally made for, but then who knows what they did with it.

Thanks guys, it is not possible to get to the number ontop of the starter, perhaps with a mirror but i found on the block behind the intake manifold FR1162X

First, it is unwise to start 2 threads with the same question...especially if you ever want an answer..and, again, NO that is not a Ford #. Unless you look above the starter, slide under the car and look up no mirror needed, you are just wasting people's time. I imagine that may be a Ford Racing #, that would indicate a build, however that isn't for certain. The # above the starter IS.
