Default How would you like a New Thermostat housing to be built?

If you had your ideal remote thermostat housing built, what sort of shape and porting would you like to see on it? How many people would like to have one of these? I have seen quite a few people trying to figure out an ideal one and if there is enough interest and a design can be agreed upon maybe I could make up the tooling and have them cast.

Jim, I'm not sure if I would go with the remote idea. If I was going to do a new design, what I think would be big hit was one that allowed you to use the big block fill tank, which is pretty common on your small block. The big differnce from what I've seen is the mounting pattern on the thermostate is reversed on the small blocks..

I would like one that makes a 90* turn straight up, with a radiator cap at the top, and the hose barb just below the cap that points straight foreward. You can get something similar for a Chevy, but not for a SBF.

Bob;
I bought what you're describing from CobraEarl. It turns 90 degrees up and then you bolt a SBC unit to that. I needed the extra height to get over my alt. belt. www.cobraearl.com.

I didn't particularly like the original so I built this 90 degree filler/thermostat and also the remote reservoir.

I sand casted a new housing so my hose is a nice "s" shape to the radiator on the left size.
