that's a 1.25" to 1.5" 90 degree reducer,, that's one big bypass!

Good catch. I was going by the fact that it was the water pump bypass, not the actual measurements.

What hose are you attempting to replace?

It's a new motor. The guy that helped me build it said he prefered to run it with the original by-pass. I know sone opt to plug and drill holes in the thermostat. It's a tight corner and different thread size out of the adapter and into the water pump. Thanks

auto parts store should have the black hose, pretty common, unless your into the looks good thing, then i don't know what you would use.
speedway has high flow 180" thermostat with drilled holes for $10, you could use this and plug the bypass with aluminum plugs if they're threaded, they look good.

For a street car, I would not plug the hose. You need it for even heating before the thermostat open. The 1/8" hole in the thermostat isn't big enough to accomplish that.
I havn't seen anything off the shelf that looks better. You could use 2 45* AN fittings and some braided line.

the speedway thermostat has 3, 1/8" holes
just made a run with the speedway thermostat, held the temp real good, lots better then the oem 195 with two drilled holes.

Bypass Hose
Use the OEM setup if at all possible, you will get the best results. Do not attempt to re-invent the wheel. Get the 90 degree 5/8" hose that goes from the water pump to the thermostat housing, it is foolproof, get a "balanced" Robert Shaw Brass thermostat. They are often repackaged by Mr Gasket and others, don't get carried away drilling holes.

oops, wrong part:
http://www.breezeautomotive.com/deta...=357&cat_id=17
But still alot more expensive than the $5.00 auto parts store version. Add shipping . . . ugh!

My water pump has 5/8" hoses, as did my original thermostat housing. I put a Kirkham SB surge tank/housing on the car a couple of months ago, and it has a 3/4" port for the bypass. I purchased and installed an Autozone #3009 (90 degree 5/8 to 3/4) hose. Sorry, I don't remember how much it cost.
