Summit Racing Carbs???
I need a different carb and I was looking at the summit 750 cfm vac secondary carb. It looks just like a 4160 holly and I am wondering if anyone has tried them? They are on sale for a good price.
Cheers Greg

How much are they asking for it?

I've been thinking about them too and found this review.

They have been nice , we have installed a few. some early teething in the fuel line department.
They have a good finish for the price and are easy to set up.
my only observations are ;
1. the idle mixture screws are in odd places to adjust whilst the engine is running.
2. Revs drop under heavy braking more so than I am comfortable with.
3. included fuel line is a bit cheesy, would like to see it deleted or improved.
works great on a 289-302 , not so much on a 351.

Sparks the 750 vac is $234.
Maricopa great link
Panavia you question if the carb would work on a 351. I have a 408 and if the math is right a 700 cfm should work but a 750 would be better. Is there another reason why you don't suggest these carbs for a larger motor?

These are NOT a performance carb. Same technology, as the old Cracker Box Autolite 4BBL from early 60's.

I purchased one for my 351w - I have the 600 cfm version, no problems, no complaints. I get alot of compliments and questions for the looks and price.

we had teething issues on a 351 with a racy cam, eventually solved it with some jet changes and duraspark ign. (duraspark has a native crank retardation of timing)

My Cobra had the Holley version when I bought it. I contacted Holley and they told me the carb was from the late 90's to the early 2000's. I got rid of it because of the throttle shafts. There were no bushings where the throttle shaft goes through the housing, and the shaft moved around about .05" from wear...probably due to a heavy return spring. Unlike the old Holley, there is no baseplate to replace, so it would have been a nightmare to fix. Hopefully Summit corrected this situation.

I put the carb on when I got it in December or there abouts, it was running okay right out of the box, but needed to be tuned. I had to rejet, and adjust fuel level, minor adjustments I think you would do on any carb out of the box - same as I had to do on previous carb. I liked the look, the price and the performance. I have no issues. People either hated the 4010 or loved them, like anything else the people who hate something are going to speak louder. I have a racy cam on my 351, and like the carb before, I had to clean it, rejet it and tune it...

Like any carb they are easy enough to rebush.
4010 is an easy carb to modify and Summit has done a great job to fix the little "woes" and produce an even better, more tuneable carburettor.

I've had 4010 750 DPs on 300 - 400 CID engines with great success. A very underestimated carburettor for those who aren't used to change.

Add me to the list of people that like it.
Put one on yesterday and ran extremely well right out of the box with few tweaks.
I purchased the 600 cfm model on a 302 with B303 cam and single plane manifold.
Time will tell, but for now, how can you beat the price at $235!
