351w oil pan
hi guys im mark from the uk
im building a ak cobra with a 351w. i trying to sort out a baffled oil pan for it. the engine has a 1 pieice rear main oil seal and a high volume pump. can any one surgest a good pan to fit ? many thanks mark |
I'm using a Canton road race pan with the front sump, baffles, and pick up. I think it holds 7 quarts when full. You can find some pretty good deals on them on ebay, but many others carry them- Summit, Jegs, Speedway, etc....
Why the high volume pump? You might want to check with an engine builder, but for the most part the consensus seems to be they aren't needed on the SBF motors and add a lot of strain on the distributor gear and oil pump drive shaft. Bob |
Oil Pan
Go with an Aviaid. A little expensive but so is you car. It's the way they were. I went with the "Daytona" pan for a little more clearance.

oil pan
does it make a diifferents between 1 and 2 pieice rear main oil seal ?

The pan doesn't even contact the rear main seal anyway, it seals up against the outer rubber seal on the outside of the rear main cap and the outer seal on the timing cover in the front. David |
oil pan
is there any advantage between front or rear sump have room for either ?

BTW: I've only used Canton road race pans with the built-in crankshaft scraper and windage tray and in the bottom they have the four spring loaded "trap doors" to keep the oil where the pickup is....I would think any road race type pan with these features would serve you well, regardless of brand.....
