Dyno-ed my small block
I build a 354 stroker (302 block with a 3.47" stroke) two years ago. Dyno-ed at 323 rwhp and 375 rwtq. I was a little disappointed. Last summer I removed the heads because I installed push rods that were to short and they wore out the valve guides. I'm . I called Keith Craft and ordered a pair of his 195 Brodix KC Signature heads and a cam. Last fall after I finished Lainhart's car and remodeled the kitchen, I worked my motor. I bought a Victor 5.0 intake, 1" spacer, fuel rails, Classic mufflers and a bunch of other stuff to make it all work. Last Friday Lainhart trailers my Cobra to the dyno shop in Memphis, Tenn. to get the chip re-tuned. They tried several times to make a pull but the motor would not run correctly. At idle is was ok but 3000 rpm's it was 18 to 1 air fuel ratio. We decided the computer was dead and maybe the chip. I'm sick. I had to leave the Cobra there. When I got home I found another computer and had it shipped to the dyno shop. Today I get a call from Joe to come and pick up my Cobra. Great news, it runs. And it made 402 rwhp and 416 rwtq. Not bad for a small block. Tomorrow Coach will drive me to Memphis, Tn to pick up my Cobra and I plan on driving it back, even in the rains.
Now that I think back on it, I tack welded a new bracket in place for my new fan. Then I removed the bracket and welded it up. But I did not disconnect my computer before I did the tack up. Live and learn.
It's been a long winter!
See yus' guys on the Main Street of London next month.
