Edelbrock Super Victor intake questions??

Anyone here use this intake manifold on their 427 stroker builds?
From the manifold discription, they say it requires a smaller diameter distributor, specifically an MSD 8578,to clear the water crossover.
Not good,if that distributor has the advance weights up top, like a GM unit.
Makes it too tall for the air cleaner.
It's always something!

Just to clear this up, during the mock up of the block, heads, and intake, there was no clearance issue with my ACCEL Billetech distributor, and it has a large body. Thank goodness for that,as it is a great distributor, better than the MSD,in build quality!
I don't know why Edelbrock thinks you need that small body MSD unit.

I used the Super Victor on a 445ci Windsor I did with TFS TW-R heads. I used a Mallory distributor on it and had no problems.

Isn't the Super Vic too tall for clearance under the hood of most cobra replicas? That seems to be what I've read from many people who have tried to use them on their build.

If memory serves I think it's 7/8" taller than Vic JR.
Ede had a manifold height chart on their site.

Nice engine you have! Where did you get those valve covers?
My engine setup is going into a 1985 Mustang LX coupe,I've owned since new, only 18,000 miles on the car!
I like this Forum for it's great Tech info!
Other than hood, that is 24 year old paint.

I used the Victor Junior on my 393 and had to go with the different distributor just for that intake. I also had to use a drop base air cleaner that hit the distributor. So, in order to get everything to work I had to cut out a small section of the air cleaner base to clear the distributor.

Brent that's a sweet loooking engine. Nicely done. Who makes the Valve Covers?

Mus408...nice car! The Fox's are a favorite of mine. With a 408 it should be a ground pounder.
