Question SB100 Question...

I may be buying a partially completed FFR Cobra. The current owner has already been assigned a SB100 number and he let the temporary tag expire. My question is, will I be able to renew the temporary tag, and must the kit be completed and visit the CHP and BAR this current calendar year, or can I take my time completing the kit? Any help would be appreciated.

You will be able to renew the current tag, and although some DMV employees disagree, you don't have to finish the car this year. If you run into any problems, e-mail me.

I got a 2005 number and finally registered it in 2006. Nobody said anything at DMV. My less-than-scientific research suggests that not all DMV's are alike. If you don't get what you need at one, go to a different one. My local DMV didn't even require a Brake and Light Certificate!

Schlene,

Where did you get to drive in a BDR? I am also considering one and the closest person to me is in Long Beach. I would love to see and drive in one.

Guys
The DMV office in Thousand Oaks is very savy. I went there this year and they hearded all of us SB00 hopefuls together. We all got numbers.

I saw the car at the yearly Knotts Berry Farm Kit Car show. I did not drive one, but purchased the car there.
