Embedded (unwanted) links to eBay and Summit?
Hi Ron,
I'll ask the question here rather than via PM, in case anyone else knows the answer and can save you the trouble...
I've noticed a lot more unwanted links appearing in plain text. For example;
Typing Oil pan links me to Amsoil and typing EBay links me to their website.
Is this something that I can switch off within my bulletin settings? I click on links thinking that the person posting on the thread has included the link, which isn't the case.
If Brent has made a business decision to allow these links as a revenue source, that's fine.
Thanks again for the time you spend keeping the site up and running.

From what I've been able to find you are infected with some kind of ad malware. I get it too but can't get rid of it. I'm told the answer may lie within some sites that are opened within Flash player (they store stuff). I tried to hunt it down but ran out of time.

CC is using VigLink as a way to help monetize it. Viglink adds links to affiliate partners for common product terms and companies as well as tags URLs to capture any affiliate fee paid for purchases made as a result of that link. NOT the only site doing it, others I visit are much more annoying. Any cursor contact opens the link, and everything is locked until the note opens with it's completely disconnected sales pitch.
Best answer - avoid them like the plague. There are some work arounds to prevent them loading if you like writing code, for the casual surfer, not so much.

Hover before clicking
On my computer with the old Vista operating system, hovering the cursor over the link without clicking will show in the lower left hand corner of the screen what the link will be connecting you to should you decide to click on it. At least this way you can see if it is indeed somewhere you want to go without commiting with a click. Maybe other operating systems do this as well.

Does it in Windows 7 Pro also.
