I don't know... I would say most sport bikes would give our Cobras a run for their money (and beat mine, at least). Check out this page for a nice summary of sport bike times.

Come on, guys. Sport bikes and the cruisers that OCC builds are two different classes of motorcycles. We're talking apples and oranges here. I would put my Cobra up against anything that those OCC clowns build any day, any week. They are great craftsmen (at least Junior is...his Dad comes off as more of a hack to me). But they build pretty bikes, not fast ones.
Can't recall the last time I ever saw someone on a cruiser bike pushing 3 digits. They're simply not geared (and shocked) to deal with that.

Some of those engines he puts in those things are up to 130 hp, with a huge fat rear tire, there very fast.and very light.

I didnt mean all of the bikes he builds just some of them are very quick in the quarter mile, and yes they are very uncomfortable, I have some friends that build them and the hp to weight ratio is unreal, I am not trying to start any big argument here, but I do know some guys that have some very fast bikes.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that some of the OCC bikes are likely extremely quick. From the designs I've seen also extremely dangerous at any kind of high speed!
Take the Cobra for instance, it to could be considered dangerous at high speed. But the difference is the chassis, brakes, suspension are designed for high speed and control. Those choppers just look scary as hell at anything over 70 mph on a smooth flat freeway with little traffic. Lord help you if you had to manuver!

Guess you need to be specific when you talk cars too, some of the Cobras around handle and run great and a few of them are scary at best....depends on who screws the car together too.
We get to watch them over here in Indo on cable and they sure dont' do much positive for the opinion of the average American. but then we get all the re-runs of Bay Watch too. LOL

Between OCC and Bay Watch I would say "real America" is closer to the former rather than the latter.

I have run a handful of sport bikes from a rolling stop, and have yet to lose. The one bike that ran neck and neck with me was an R1. The smaller dispacement bikes are no match.

I believe you. I wonder if it takes a certain "breed of cat" to run 10 second quarter miles on a sport bike, and most owners of those bikes are not of that breed.

I have owned several bikes over the years. Try taking a "10 second" bike on paper to the strip and see what you can run. They pay pro's who take sevral runs to get those times. I had a GSXR that was a 10 second bike stock. I put on race tires and a Vance & Hines stage three kit, and could barely break into the high 10's after several runs. Having to battle wheel lift while trying to hit your shift points is tough.

Well that seems to make sense. It's bound to be much harder than a car. On the other hand, there's only two things keeping me from running 10's; the car and the driver.

I have a guy at work with a 650 that wants to race.
Told him I would give him a 20 foot head start, but we stay in the same lane for the full quarter mile. He won't do it.

These cars definitely not easy to launch from a standing start, but I think a sport bike is harder. You really have to get your weight over the front of the bike as much as possible, and still you have to roll into the throttle to keep from going backwards. The rake on these bikes is not set-up for the drag strip.
