Default SPF GT40 versus Ford GT: Who wins?

I stole this link from Darryl Adams over at the GT40's Forum.

Lance Stander published this short you tube video of an SPF GT40 racing a Ford GT from a rolling start. The passenger in the Ford GT is taking the video.

For the purposes of disclosure, Lance Stander owns SPF.

There was something seriously wrong with that Ford GT. I would have to guess that he was in WAY TOO HIGH of gear when they rolled in it. I never even heard the supercharger & they are LOUD on those cars. As a Ford SVT service tech, I got to drive lots of those cars. They are pretty impressive. The last one I drove had been tuned by Hennessy & made 750+ rwhp.

Power to weight ratio, boys. Unless you pay attention to that, you're grasping for straws. The Ford GT kicks ass (I LOVE THEM!), but put 500bhp in a lighter wrapper (ala SPF GT) and it quickly becomes a cat playing with a wounded mouse. Now a lateral acceleration/stick test would be a good one, and with the right tires I could see either car giving the other a run for its money.

I would assume that when the GT 40 really starts to pull away the Ford GT started to ease off as he knew he was beat.

I have been in Lance's car with him driving, and the thing is very fast. The car just hooks up and goes. Very impressive car.

It looks pretty even, within the margin of drivers error until the GT lets off the gas. The SPF is pulling but not by much.

Apples to Oranges. (The SPF is still a nice car)

You would think the SPF would have done better, but it's hard to say what HP it has.

Cool vid either way. It's nice to see some people enjoying the cars.

You don't really have much engine build choice in a GT. That & weight(as mentioned above)... Do we get the video of them in the curves with professional drivers next?

Maybe just put the passenger in the GT40 instead of the GT. That didn't look like a cat playing with a wounded mouse to me, they appeared pretty close until the GT let off. Put a bolt on twin turbo kit available from many vendors for the GT, then you really would have a cat playing with a wounded mouse. Cheers.

Read the above link posted by MarkIV. The driver of the SPF posted there. As far as the twin turbo kit, the same could be said for the SPF. According to the above link the Ford GT already had a HP advantage. You can always say what if...

Yup, that was a great comment, if you can get by the sexist part of it.
