Sorry, didn't mean to imply that you said anything against them. But many people just feel the earlier SPF cars were not as good as the newer cars. The industry evolves and so do the cars. Changes ("improvements") sometimes happen because the cars become available in other countries and other safety items become standard rather than supporting 2 designs. Requirements like sealed headlights, side parking lights, emergency flashers, headrests, seat belt buzzers, fuel injection electrical loads requirements, etc. The availability of the newer style modular crate engines made taller cowls necessary. (460's too). Australia’s engine requirements for pollution related issues also comes to mindI believe Corvette engines are the best solution there too. And the limited availability of some parts made change necessary too. The first front brakes were Ford Granada disks I think ? Probably in short supply these days. HI-Tech also started making more of it's own parts too. The dropped footboxes probably required a change to the early frame design? Not sure, but what a difference a few inches make

BTW: The car in questions full chassis number has 17 characters, so 6 more letters and numbers were not posted here for the car in question.

The dropped foot boxes were an option. My car is #532 and has them on the drivers side.
