Superformance Group's South Africa Factory Visit

I am starting this thread to try and capture, convey and record the legacy from a recent visit to the Hi-Tech Factory in South Africa. A group of 30 owners made a historic trip to the factory during Feb-March 2010. Below in this thread will no doubt be plenty of information and eye candy for those interested in this very unprecedented, historic visit to the factory by a group of owners of the Superformance line of products. Please join me as we embark on this visual trek to South Africa with our friends at Superformance. Nowhere else will you have this kind of unlimited access to a factory the size of HiTech by such a large group of owners.

03/01/10 - Superformance Owners Association Members visit
the Hi-Tech / Superformance Factory in South Africa...

Superformance Owners Association Members make the very first-ever visit to the Factory!

Port Elizabeth, South Africa, March 1, 2010- In the making for over a decade, a group of 30 Superformance Owners made the overseas trek to the Hi-Tech factory in South Africa where all the Superformance cars are made. Beginning on March 20th and after a week long tour of the winelands of the western cape of South Africa, the tropical coast line of the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans and the mountainous Central Cape area, Jimmy Price and the entire staff of Hi-Tech Automotive in Port Elizabeth warmly opened it's doors for a look inside the Hi-Tech factory with an unprecedented access to all it's secret projects and well known products.

More info and photos to come...

Stay tuned and feel free to add your evidence from the trip if you were one of the members who attended. Please use caution when uploading photos. Make sure that any questionable photos, of HiTech's' proprietary material not for public view, are not submitted. If you have any questions as to appropriateness of the material please contact Randall Thomas first.

I was not able to participate in the trip, and am looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing the many stories of their exciting trip to South Africa culminating with a visit to Hi-Tech (manufacturer of Superformance and many other fine vehicles).

I have already seen one photo from the trip. Looks like another great vehicle in the making from Jim Price and the folks at Hi-Tech!

That looks like the new sports car for Fenix Automotive, which is Lee Noble's new company in the U.K. His previous Noble Cars are still sold in the U.S. under the Rossion brand, but Lee has no affiliation with them.

And say, did Patrickt order a special, double roll bar SPF?

Yep. For those of us who are kicking ourselves for not carving out time to make that trip.

289 Hints?

I spoke to Jimmy Price in 2008 on one of his visits to Dynamic Motorsports just before I purchased my SPO 2891 and asked him why they did not make 289s? His response was that at that time there was not enough market for a Slab Side. My goal was at the time to try and replicate a street roadster with slab side manner and character. Who knows, that may change depending on demand.

On the first photo below, Randall Thomas, President of the Superformance Owners Group,"This is him speaking with the factory engineers about making several changes to the cars based on experiences we've had with the owners needs. They were incredibly receptive as well as genuinely interested in everything he had to say. They were glued both eyes and ears to every word. Clearly, they were not there to put on a show, they were there to learn and apply. Notice Lance looking up trying to recall all the important issues we needed to cover in such a short time.

Here we are discussing some very intricate changes and suggestions in making the windshields even better and most cost effective.

As you can tell by some of the photos on this thread Hi Tech is such broadly diversified company. The projects all around seemed so very, hmm... interesting. Mustangs???

Looks like the group had wide open access to the entire factory. I am hoping for more Campus photos.

It is information like this that pushes me towards a SPF gT40. Receptive companies willing to continually improve their products based on CUSTOMERS needs. Keep the photo comming!!
