It is possible that you will have clearance issues with a 351 and that manifold. Check the dimensions on the Edelbrock site. You will definately need to use a drop center air filter assy. I used to run that intake on a 289 and had about 1/4" clarance with the top of the air filter and the edge of the cutout for the hood scoop. Good manifold, need a lot of cam and good compression and double pumper carb.

I am just curious what FI system you had and why you want to change? I have a FI system on mine (2nd FI system, first was not very good) and love it.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,

When I bought the car it ran pretty good, the original owner claimed 500 hp at the wheels. It was a custome 8 stack throttly body system. The second owner had a " safer" tune put on it and decreased the power. Last winter I had the motor gone through after I blew a head gasket. They just put a holly on it to run it throught the warm up procedures and it made 600 hp at the flywheel with no tweaking.

After I got the FI sytem back on I just wasnt making much power so I towed it 2 1/2 hours away to the only guy I could find who would tune it. It was running megasuiurt and no one would tune it around here. It was only making 320 at the wheels and running very very rich. The computer was not accepting the changes he was making and the hp stayed exactly the same. Rather than spend the same or more on another computer system I just decided to go with a carb since I know it is making adequate power with a carb. The system I have will work good for somone who goes with a different tuning program but Im done messign with it.

Thanks for the response. I was curious if it was the same as my first system, but it does not sound like it. Good luck on changing to a carb.

Thanks,

Ken
