Let's see your pure street 427 roadsters from SPF
Does anyone here have a pure street 427 roadster from Superformance?
You know, it should have no hood scoop or roll bar, front and rear nudge bars and overriders, undercar exhaust, a street dash layout, and round tail lamps.
Extra points if you converted the Le Mans gas cap over to a proper small cap from the street models.
C'mon guys, if you've got one let's see some photos and specify your chassis number too.

sp1410 has a nice blue street 427 from Superformance. No hood scoop, no roll bar, undercar exhaust, street dash, and overriders. Still, his car's missing the nudge bars and has rectangular tail lamps and the LeMans gas cap. So close...

Very nice car, Steve! Any idea how many other SPFs have been completed like this? It seems to be more common among ERA owners than SPF owners, to replicate the pure street roadsters.
(I know that it's tough to generalize re: round vs rectangular tail lamps on 427 Cobras, as they kinda just installed whatever they had on hand. But my understanding is that the 427 comp cars had rectangular lamps, as did all the 260/289s, but the 427 street cars mainly had round ones.)

Tail lamps
I believe the Round Lamps were introduced for the new Federal guide lines in1966 for a seperate Turn lamp, and Stop lamp.

I was gonna go with round tailights, but the SPF round ones just don't look right to me.

Remember the SPF rectangular rear lamps are a dual bulb type , which is an improvement over the original rectangular rear AC lights. The rear "round" lights as seen on the 428 cars were cheap and available at the time and easier to implement than a re-tooled rectangular lamp.
with that said, I personally prefer the rectangular lamps.

Dirtrich, does your hood scoop have the rivets like the 427S/C cars or is it molded in? And does your hood have the rickets on the leading edge, or is it clean? I can't quite tell from your photos.
Panavia, I also prefer the rectangular tail lamps especially on my 427S/C replica, but I bought it resale and it had the round ones. Phft! Not my ideal, but not a deal breaker either.

Not so....if that were the case the 66 Mustang would not have used the same tail lamps as the 65, in fact, no federal regulation called for separate turn and stop lamps....there are still cars with "combo" lamps. I don't know why AC/Shelby did it as the Lucas rectangulars have a reflector area.
There seem to be two types of round lamps in use, a glass lens that is held in a rubber gasket and a plastic lens that snaps onto the base as seen on AC MK IVs, etc.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing fotos of all street Cobras. Really nice. I've been overseas on business these past 5 weeks (due home this weekend) and these shots (and this site in general) have truly been a welcome shot of Americana. Firing up my CCX is extremely high on my return "things to do".

Sundude, please take a look at this classic Superformance Roadster. The owner just took delivery of it two weeks ago!
Enjoy!
