RSR 2001 (car shown) has a toploader as the T10 Ross sourced was the wrong configuration and the toploader was on hand and expediant to compltete the car. You can use a TL, a T10 or a TKO in the car.

Can't wait to see pictures of the car out in the open where you can get a good look at the lines. A couple things catch my eye but it's tough to tell until we can get a better view from a little more distance. Overall, I like. Why did it take so long????

Nice pics! Is there a particular reason that the spedometer is way over to the right? And, the engine does really redline at 7000?

You could always pirate fender air to get cooler air to your 289'
by the way here is the 'handout' from the superformance guys.
http://www.newmustangranch.com/images/mkiihandout.pdf
I modified the cheat-sheet per their request, remember prices are subject to change due to various conditions, exchange rates, materials cost, giraffe infestations.
I am sure they will do their best to hold them steady, -but the world is not steady on a daily basis.
See you in Monterey -- we go tomorrow.

Attention fellow Canucks!
It looks like this beautiful car is now available in Canada too. Check out the Riverside Racers website.

There were 16 or so 289 competition cars built with the wide rear fenders (called "wide wings" by AC) and cut back doors. Of those, only 3 or 4 had a dimpled trunk to accommodate the FIA suitcase (the extra gas tank took up too much room). Interestingly, not all of the cars that competed in FIA events had the dimples and, of course, they would not be needed for USRRC events.
Here are pictures of a Shelby team car at the Targa Florio, an FIA event, with a smooth trunk. It also has the Cobra trunk and nose badge, the "Powered by Ford" badge above the front fender vent, and the gas cap wind deflector:
These two team cars at the same race had trunk dimples; they also did not have any badges or the gas cap wind deflector:
This links to a video from that race, the 1964 Targa Florio, with a lot of footage of the Cobras:

The last two "wide wings" cars, CSX 2557 and 2558, have pipes that stick out on the side the car. Don't know if they are original.
CSX 2557:
CSX 2558:
They also have a dash that is different than the others:
CSX 2557 (I've been told that this has a Jones tach, but I don't know if that's correct):
CSX 2558, with a Stewart-Warner tach:
