I dont have a specific part number but I belive its just the standard flasher. Just get one with the correct number of contacts.
When putting it in, loosen up the holding piece of metal a little bit so the pressure on the flasher isnt so tight.

hi Steve-O

thanks for your reply, it was the holding piece you mentioned that caused all the trouble, crushed the outter plastic case.

How can you not have turn signals? They were removed I assume?
Is the connector still at the base fo the steering column, just behind the dash face? Send me an email address and I'll send you a photo of the chassis plug to look for

Note that the SPF uses a connector plug on the end that VW does not. The correct unit is the "1967" one.

I have that 1967 i guess but it only operates the high beam.

The lever only has two positions it feels like, there is a clear part in tray under dash that looks like a flasher?

PO that bought the car new said never has had signals or at least they did not work?

Guess i need to check further see why the switch seems to only have two positions, also it is on the right of the column, is this correct?

thanks, marvin

I removed the steering wheel today.

The snap ring that holds the signal stalk was just laying there loose.

Guess I need a drawing, I think someone has had this apart or it was not assembeled correctly.

When I removed the stalk the little contact with spring fell out, I'm not sure the collar that fits inside the stalk and over the steering shaft is oeiented correctly?

And I can understand why the snapring was not in place the left side of stalk collar lacks about 1/32 going down enough to get the ring installed.

Thanks for any advice, marvin
