Battery Manager Question

Dumb question...I have a battery manager I got from Griot's. There is a connection that goes through the cigarette lighter included in the box. My SPF does have a cigarette lighter (power port?). Is there any reason not to hook up the battery manager through the cigarette lighter?

If the power port is on all the time it will work. If it is switched or relay controlled it will not. In general battery tenders don't supply huge amounts of current so small gauge wiring can support. My batteries are behind the seat so I just connect the clips and go that way. I used the permanent cables on my Mustang.
