This is a homerun for SPF, 50 state emission compliance, no registration or inspection worries. I cannot wait until they put some together and we get feedback on power, sound etc.

SPF may have figured out their future customers are fuel injected oriented. All these older guys on the forum got the company going but the younger generation mid 30's and up will keep it going. Fuel injection is so sweeeeeet, easy starting, no smell of fuel, high reving, glassy smooth, etc. I wonder being bored today what it would cost to retrofit an old spf with the new powertrain. It is just a matter of new motor mounts or has the entire engine compartment been reworked.

maxx, it is my understanding that newer generation SPF engine compartments were done to accommodate a Ford mod motor installation and that the primary modification was to relocate the steering shaft and links closer to the left side. I do not know at what point they started this (I know just enough of each brand to be dangerous with the knowledge). Otherwise the basic frame hasn't really changed.
The Coyote does look wider in the car. The mandatory use of cats is probably one of the more difficult accommodations, but it appears they have that nailed down, too.

This Coyote Engine will fit in most SPF Models...new or old. If you have any questions regarding the install, V's Auto Repair and Performance in Orange, CA 92865 did this install, along with the LS3 EROD Install, you can contact him directly if you have any questions at (714) 654-2708

The Coyote motor shares many attributes of the current Modular motor configuration. It's not very long but it is wide, "Boss 429 wide", and then some.
To make this motor fit, Hi-Tech first narrowed the Superformance foot boxes and moved the entire steering shaft over as well as other modifications to fit the modular motor starting with car #2028, which left the factory on 10/19/2004.
Then towards the end of 2005 (in the car 2200-ish range), the steering shaft was moved outwards once more which also required a notch to be made in the inner fenderwell.
I doubt the Coyote engine will fit in the cars built prior to #2028 or before October of 2004.

Wow tough decision. Need to do the numbers, sell what I have and price new one and see cost, convert existing. Does not seam to make sense to convert existing since it is in perfect shape. Cant wait until we hear some sound bites and owner feedback.

I think you would be better off to sell the old one and buy new roller unless you were in need of a new engine in your existing Cobra. I would expect the catalysts would dampen the sound significantly. I still want to see the 427 Coyote, Yee-Haww!

New Engines
I think you can go down to the local Ford store and get one for less money, I think they call it a Mustang. Run and drive pretty well from what I here. Could be something to try till they have some built.

It's an interesting option for an engine choice. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to get one, nor would that option inspire me in any way as to the choice of vehicle I might purchase. It's just another motor option, nothing special here that I can see...
So, your at the local cruise in on a Saturday night. Of course they are a BUNCH of 'Stangs there, 90% with a modular V8. The Cyote doesn't look substantially different than anybody else's modular V8. All in various shades of "custom" this and that, colored wire loom's, chrome radiator caps, etc. etc. Seen one, seen 'em all...

Lance brought the car over to our local Cars and Coffee show and it was really nice and was running the factory side pipes. When he fired up that motor and goosed it a few times it sounded very similar to my 408W so I doubt he's running any sort of cats in the exhaust system.

Randall, the car just needs to be ordered with the MOD motor option. -- that takes care of it. -- I would not look at the coyote 5.0L as a restrofit in an existing chassis, I think the focus of this release is new SPFs
keep in mind the coyote as released is not their version of the erod, it has not been certified as a emissions legal combination, only the Erod series has, - I look forward to Ford going down this pathway , but it has not happened.
I see either choice as a great thing for the enthusiast for his car, no carbs to mess with. -- you have to love that. stable ignition systems. --- an even bigger WIN!

Steve, as an installer you will be pleased to know that there are no production modifications or changes needed in order to fit the new modular motors into the current or previously built cars back to 2004. The only thing needed is to select the appropriate engine mounts and headers just like you do with any of the other engine selections.
As I previously mentioned , *all* Superformance cars already have the narrowed foot boxes and steering shafts moved over to fit the wider engines as STANDARD EQUIPMENT starting with car #2028, which left the factory on 10/19/2004. I feel what the erod and coyate offer is drivability. Clean burning fuel injection, glassy smooth idle and the ability to rev.
In the last two weeks I have improved by cold and hot start drivability. Cold start by cleaning the air bypass venturi's and hot start by lowering the float levels to eliminate the vapor lock when starting warm. An ancillary benefit to the float level being lowered is the residual odor in my garage after shutting off has been reduced by 75% that is a huge home run.
Currently I average about 11mpg, the erod and coyate would probably be double that.
I think any company has to look at technology for the next generation buying cobras and gt40's, spf has hit a homerun offering these options. Now they need to focus on making them water tight.

Had a corvette, worse pos of the 40 cars I have owned. I still have a bad taste in my mouth after 13 years since I sold it I will never own one again. By the way besides the plethora of other items which failed on it the wiper motor did also so even though it was water tight, I couldn't see out of it at least not on low speed wipers.
Couldn't stop one time either when the master cylinder failed. No wonder gm went bankrupt.
