Heel and toe shifting in an SPF.
Okay, I can heel and toe with the best of them in my previous cobra, but this one has the gas pedal right next to the brake pedal so that I can't turn my foot at an angle like I used to and rest my toe on the brake and my heel on the gas.
The only way I can heel and toe in this car is to use the left side of the ball of my foot on the brake and the right side on the gas. Real uncomfortable this way.
Is there any way to modify/adjust the gas pedal so that it is lower than the brake pedal? What do you guys do?

call olthoff racing, get a brake and clutch pedal extension, then your gas pedal will be lower than your other pedals.

Hi Jim,
Apparently I'm a little dense here. Why or what situation would you need to heel and toe? I don't think I've needed to do that once. Oh, stopping uphill? 209

It's for down shifting.
And I do not have any problem with doing it in mine.

Exactly, it's for down shifting while braking into a corner so you match revs and get into the right gear to exit the corner without shocking the drive train and possibly upsetting the cars balance at a critical time.
And it sounds cool too!

Because you really cannot drive them the way they are intended without utilizing heal toe.

Same problem on my BDR, gas pedal is too high when depressing the brake pedal. I'm going to ask Reg at Custom Cars to adjust the gas pedal lower for me when I take it in for service next month. Nothing beats the feeling of a well executed heel and toe ( almost nothing ;-) )

I bought my car from a short guy and I'm 6'2", so I had to remove the pedal extensions. I also cut 2" off my gas pedal, which was shaped like a hockey stick and may have also been a special adaptation for short people. If you think you can use the pedal extensions, PM me with your address and I'll mail them to you.

the pedal is too low, has too much travel, and the master cylinder is garbage and the bias is a disaster.
I yanked all that that crap out, properly mounted a tilton dual master cylinder with bias bar and pedals... I'll try to send you pics and info if you want to email me.... ramey@rameylegal.com
unfortunately, i learned that the spf brakes, pedals, steering and front geometry must be completely redesigned unless you are just wanting to live with a show car only level of performance on 60's technology tires.

Seems like the SPF show cars did okay at the 2010 Run N Gun - taking top honors in several categories.

Ramey,
Just from the tone of your post...
Are you the guy with the silver Superformance with the extreme modifications listed to the chassis and suspension, Wheels, tires, and SO much more... and had it for sale at one time I believe? on eBay maybe? in 2008 & 2009 & in 2010?
Edit: Don't bother answering that question...you are the guy...I just revisited your ebay sales ads describing the car and the modifications you made to the other deficiencies on the factory cars...

To the OP:
You are doing it right.
Left side of shoe on brake, angle foot so you can blip the throttle with right side of shoe. That's what I do.
Question to those that DON'T use heel-toe downshifts: How do you handle accelerating out of a corner since you can downshift while braking? Seems like if you just downshifted and lifted off the clutch, your revs would be all mismatched.

Dude, mine is fine. Car handles good, pedals are fine, stops well. I have Avon tires and I'm betting the car will pull about 1g laterally.

Unless you are road racing, there should not be a need for heal/toe downshifting.

Practice.
I heel and toe the majority of the time that I'm driving.
