SPF Ring & Pinion Swap
Thinking about swapping out the 3.46 gears for 3.08 in the BTR differential. Does anyone have knowledge of a direct replacement source?
Thanks in advance.

Does SPF us an 8.8 or a 9"? Ring gear and pinion is a pretty simple swap or you could probably find someone that has a pumpking that would be willing to swap with you. Also, check with Dean I think he has a source for rearend gears.
Good Luck Mark.

The older SPF cars used an 8.8 IRS. I think the newer ones switched to a different setup, maybe a Dana 44. I can supply the gears and rebuild kit if I knew which rear you had.

I did this swap, if you use a btr rear, gears need to be bought through an australian dealer. It is not an easy swap either, there is no room to get to the pumkin so the entire rear needs to be brought down a little, also plan on paying double for the gears since they are not a ford but a GM product. Same gears as an american GTO, which is actually a Holden car.

Thanks Clois, Brent, FR65 - was hoping to find a vendor for the BTR gears. If it's too difficult I'll start thinking about a new pumpkin.

Check with a GM dealer for the ratios available for the GTO. And changing to a different diff will require frame bracket modofications. The Ford 8.8", the BTR and the ZF all mount differently.
