Wiring Harness for early cars?
I am having all the engine compartment wiring redone on my SPF023. Being a prototype built in 1994, I don't know what the source of the original wiring harness might have been.
Does anyone know if the current loom assembly can be reasonably adapted to an early SPF model?
Suggestions?
Thanks....Bill

Hi-Tech built their own wiring harnesses in the early days too...your 023 should not be much different the the earliest version wiring on cars up to 1040. The earliest car are not well documented but the parts did not change much from yours...
You pretty much have 2 headlights, 2 running lights, 2 turn signals, 2 fans, brake light switch, low level brake fluid level, the charging system (voltage regulator / alternator), one 4 fuse panel, and the ignition system if you still use the stock dura-spark system.

Thanks, Blas...I figured it would be you who would know.
That sounds like good news...I'll have them get the current harness and improvise as needed. I warned them about it being a prototype :-)
I retired this year, and since I managed to weather a bit of a storm a while back and keep the car, I am getting it spruced up a bit for both looks and reliability. I have found that even though it only has about 18000 miles, things have worn out a bit since 1994.
I'm looking forward to some good summers for 023 and I to share.

I never said yours matches the latest harness...It matches the FIRST version and we are now seeing a modified THIRD version of the harness on new cars. Really not interchangable - Your one piece early version vs. the current 3 section harness with bulkhead plugs, etc.

Sorry, Blas...I misinterpreted. Perhaps a generic, straightforward harness would be an easier adaptation.
Thanks again....Bill

The Kirkhams use a harness that is available from KWIK-WIRE and is of good quality and easy to use. you may have to put in some relays or circuit breakers depending on your seup, but it is a good starting place.
I have installed the KW harnesses in a few simmilar cars, including a Morgan +4, with good outcomes . --
