Unhappy Early Superformance Rear Suspension Issue

Ok Guys:
I need some help. The other night, in an effort to add a bit more negative camber (bottoms out) to the right rear, I removed the 5/8 inch bold that holds the heim joint. It came out with little resistance, the two spacers on either side of the joint also came out with little resistance. So far no problem. I made the necessary adjustment to the heim joint (dialed it in a bit) and then tried to reinstall the joint. This was not to be.

The upper suspension wishbone moved forward about 1/4 inch (where it really wants to be). The 1/2 inch spacer that was on the forward side of the bolt will no longer go into place. I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure out how to reinstall the forward spacer but have come up with nothing.

If anyone out there (especially Connecticut guys) has a solution for me it would be much appreciated. I feel like the car will never move again. Has anyone out there run into this problem?

Bob

The spacers do need to go back as they came out. Use a ratchet strap to pull the upright back and allow the spacers to go back in. As the inner arm pivots are rubber sleeve bushing they allow the seemingly "wrong" geometry to work.

Mark:
I've had 3 builders look at the problem. They all agree there is really nothing to pull against. Read your PM.

Mark the currrent supension alignment settings. Loosen all suspesnion mounting and alignment point; then re-attach the hemispherical rod end. Get alignment close using your marks. Now go to aligment shop and have alignment check and ajusted as needed.

Thanks to Rick in Buffalo for the phone call and Dennis Olthoff at Superformance in NC for the spacers. SPF642 is back on the road!

As Archimedes once said "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." Or in my case, a ratchet extension and a pipe on the end of it.
