This raises a number of interesting issues on this side of the Pond.

Nigel Hulme and Rod Leach already sell the Superformance Mk111 in the UK which will be in competition with AC's MkV1. I wonder, given that Jim Price owns Hi Tech and is now on the board of AC Cars, whether they will be allowed to continue selling the Superformance car here.

I'm also wondering whether Mr Leach will be allowed to sell the Slabside as a Superformance badged car if AC are selling exactly the same car.
Superformance and the "AC MK VI" are in no way "competitors" so I would guess there will no change in what Nigel and Mr. Leach offer. This is based on my opinion and in no way on any information I may (and don't) have.

The MK II being sold as different products in vastly different markets has no bearing on the existing UK dealers.

As to "badge-engineering" once it becomes available as a Wollesley and a Morris, the marketing plan will be complete![/quote]

I note that the car carries no Cobra or AC badges. Hopefully, this will allow a buyer to choose whichever he wants - be it Wollesley or Morris, whichever emblems look best with one's choice of color?

To further confuse the issue, This car is none of the above!
It is actually my Riverside Roadster.
When the decision to show a car at the Geneva show was taken by AC, it was was quickly sprayed to a Steve Grey`s ( Brooklands Motor Co.) choice and is volvo stabla 102.As Justin, Jims son, put it. "it`s very old school" The factory pics don`t do it justice,The shows are better.
It will be at most of the shows along the East Coast shown by Rick Muck of Time Machines in Buffalo, and I invite all to pop in and sit in the car to see how Jim and the development team at Hi Tech have managed to tweak extra space to make it a very comfortable sitting sports car. And visually it takes a lot of searching to find out how and where!
In Europe a different version, beginning with being RH drive, instrumentation etc belongs to AC and Superformance with their dealerships distribute the USA as their mk2 alongside the FIA.In Canada it reverts to a Riverside starter kit to meet the requirements of Tpt Canada.
Look forward to meeting new and seeing "old" faces at the shows this year.
We have put a lot of work into the details and you are going to love it.

Now I am confused.

So Hi Tech developed this car with Riverside Racers and the car will be sold as a Superformance in the US and AC in Europe and the UK?? And the same basic car built by Hi Tech will also be sold as the CSX8000 Series Shelby cars?

On the way!

The 289 has been "stuffed" in the container at Brooklands and is sailing to the USA to be "unstuffed" and prepped for the Carlilse show.

We have had strong interest in the 289 and I have several customers coming to Carlilse to "sit and touch" before finalizing their orders.

We will also have a 289 FIA at Carlilse so best of both worlds will be on hand.

Rick

There are specification and option differences that make the Shelby and Superformance products different.

What are the differences? Are they meaningful? Thanks.

Trim differences for one.

The SA car uses the alloy Dana/Salsibury differential while the AC and Superformance use the ZF limited slip diff that is used in the Superformance MK III, the Shelby Daytona Coupe, the Zagato and some car I never heard of called a "Camaro".

Wow!

Congrats to Rick and Ross...............

Looks like 1962 all over again as the same car is being shown all around like there are more....HiTech, Riverside, SPF, AC and SAI.......same car?

You guys did great with the car, just feel it should be under one label for less confusion. SAI gets more for the car since you get a CSX#. Next we will have a thread comparing HiTech, Riverside, SPF, AC and SAI which is better. Why is the SPF factory so empty?

Can't wait to see the car! Looks great! Congrats, hope I can get one at some point.

Smile Now I Understand

We attended one of the Shelby 50th Anniversary events in Pomona last weekend.

Hillbank had a beautiful display. Included was a CSX 7000 series, 289FIA. I swore that 8-months ago it was the same Superformance Mk II that I looked at in their showroom in Irvine. As displayed and with drivetrain installed, it listed as $109k I think. (not absolutely sure, but close).

Again, beautiful car.

Because the photo is at Brooklands, not Hi Tech in Port Elizabeth!

The HT factory is humming along building the Superformance products, the Shelby cars, the AC Zagato, the Rossions and some that we are not allowed to name........

Probably one of AC Heritage's historic buildings at the former Brooklands racetrack. I wonder what that Cobra lurking in the background is?

AC Heritage will be opening their production facilities to the public as part of the Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival on 16 /17 June. You'll be able to see the original Thames Ditton Factory tooling, the AC factory chassis register, an Autokraft era display of the Cobra MkIV and the first 50th Anniversary aluminium Cobra produced by AC.

There will be examples of every significant variant of the AC roadster shape starting with the Ace right up to the latest AC production.

Well worth attending if you happen to be in England in June!

Ross

Thank you, it is a labor of love...
June is a bit optimistic as I frown on trailers and prefer driving the car. Lil 289 will probably be started however not up to 8hr drive. Probably going in the Cooper.

I am hoping for Limerock at end of summer?

Keep up the good work, I have said for years the 289 have been overlooked and you are keeping them alive.

Ross,

How much for the just slabside body and wire wheels? I think I’m falling in love again!

Jeff,

I’m really enjoying seeing your 289 come together as well. I can’t relate to the extent of labor that goes into something like this like Ross can, but I’m a huge fan of your build. I hope I get to see it in person one day
