Default Superformance MSO

I won't get into why I"m asking, but if any of you have delt with the state of California, you may already know.

Is there anyone who's MSO does NOT say the car is a "1966"? From speaking with various involved parties...I doubt there are many of you. In fact, I expect that every, or nearly every one says the same thing...unless specifically requested.

Remember, this is for Superformance cars only.

If you are wary, for some reason, feel free to reply by email or PM

Thanks.

It doesn't matter if the MSO has 1966 on it.
You're going to have to go through the SPCN for registration and SB100 for emission.
SPCN will register the year as 0000 and SB100 go by the body style not the engine year.

Rich,

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I've been through the SB100 process several times, and unfortunately know the rules better than some of the inspectors .

Anyway, right now I"m trying to get some very specific information. I'll leave it at that, for the time being.

If you're trying to register it as a 1966 car, forget it. It isn't. Trying to do so constitutes fraud.

Bill,

Not to worry, I'm not trying to do anything of the sort.

Again, please, no speculation.

Rich,

Same thing, please don't try to guess what I'm up to. Nothing nefarious, mind you, but what your MSO says may absolutely matter....depending on who you speak to at the state level, and how they interpret the statutes.

When I get through this, I'll provide a thorough explanation of what and why, but until then, please don't try to guess...it will only slow things down further.

In theory, this is how it works.....in theory, anyway.

Been there, done that.

PS Knowlege of the SB100/SPCNS process is not the issue. I've been through it all before.

My first spf MSO said 2008. In fact they asked what year I wanted. I wanted 2008 to register as an assembled vehicle.

My MSO says Year: 2007. Model: Replica 1965 AC MKIII. It was sold in 2007. I am most of the way through the SPCN registration and have spent $125 more than it would have cost to register a daily driver valued at the same amount. 2608 was first sold by a Louisiana SPF dealer in 2007, I bought 2608 from a guy in Florida, registered it in Washington State and am now registering it in California.

Ward,

Your MSO says 1965 replica? Thankyou, that is helpful.

To clarify, I'm interested in what year your MSO says it replicates, not the year of manufacture (which will be a more modern date).

Also, to be useful, the carb and air pump data I'm interested in is specific to FORD small block v8s.

Thanks.

Guys,

You are confusing MSO with the TITLE. The MSO is only issued by the manufacturer and is the "birth certificate" if you will of the car. A second owner will never see the MSO unless the original purchaser made a copy. The original MSO must be surrendered to the DMV when the vehicle is titled.

The MSO for SPO1980 lists the year as a "1965 Replica."

I have a copy of my MSO and good thing as I needed it for the California Highway Patrol to register the Cobra in California. I think it is a good idea to always get a copy of the MSO for your files.
