Default Just when I needed it the most - call from new owner of one of my sorted SPF's

Got a call from the gentlemen I sold my last SPF too. He has racked up 3k miles in 5 months!!! He was calling about what oil I used. He said it is now down about 1.5 quarts. I politely scolded him and told him I left detailed instruction in the glove compartment and discussed it with him during the sale. He laughed and apologized He has not had one single issue, not one single bolt, not one single component not working. He said it has been flawless!!!! I told him change the oil and filter and don't touch it, don't take it to anyone, just drive it!!!!!

When I first got his car I sorted 22 issues!!!!! Proof is in the pudding if you fix them right you don't fix them again!!!

Yes I am bragging on my exceptional skills!!

Oh just found out why my newly aquired spf tach was so erratic, idiots had connected MSD signal wire to wrong wire on tach. I cant believe PO lived with that sheet for 5 years.

I got the demon carburetor dialed in!!! No more stalling in hard stops, hard turns, idle eze screw works perfect, idles at 850 rpm and no chugging or lurching from stop. It took me about 30 minutes to read the instructions and 30 minutes tuning. Sweet carburetor didn't even need a rebuild.

No fair reading the instructions. ... And you call yourself a mechanic.

i work in the petrochemical industry, we do some many checks and balances and rechecks and due diligence before the first nut is turned. the auto industry is diametrically different yet they have the audacity to charge $75 per hour. than again we have pumps and compressors running 24 hours a day for 20-30 years.

true craftsman, mechanics are a dying breed never to be born again!!!!!

The old school mechanics fix things and not replace unless it's FUBAR. We didn't have access to mail order parts. We made things work. My son is a Cat field service mechanic. They were amazed that he would actually repair equipment instead of just coming out and replacing parts. I know a couple young guys that understand. The old guys have a responsibility to the young guys to pass on what we know. I was taught by a Master Mechanic from Alameda NAS back in the 60's. Joe could 'fix' anything. When is the last time you heard of a mechanic being referred to as a "Master Mechanic"?
