Default Glove Box Latch

Superformance cheaped out with the glove box latch (just a lock cylinder that requires one to use the key as a grab point). I'd like to replace it but the search isn't finding much. Cobra Restorers and AH Spares offer them but at $200 and points north! I've searched this forum and the possible threads had dead links so I'm stuck. There much be a domestic source offering a latch with a 3/4" barrel with a lockset and a knob for about $25 but I have yet to find it. Any advice?

Here's what I bought and plan to install this winter.

(courtesy of FritoBandito)

The VW latch itself can be bought from here
Glove Box Button - Latch VW Bug 1952 to 1967

Then here's where you buy the pull.
VW Glove Box Pull Tab 1953-1967 Beetle, Bug

I have the key-type in mine and prefer the push-button style.

(If you can stand to put VW parts on your SPF. )

These cars are loaded with VW parts, and Astro Van parts, MG parts, Holden Parts, Pick-up truck parts, Ford Granada parts, etc, etc

At least they are not a kit car.

Try the guys in Nebraska. I think they supply the ones Shelby uses in the csx cars

I made a round wood knob and glued the key into it. I just leave the key in the glove box and it stays there.

So you don't want to know where the turn signal lever/switch is from then?

Can you give me a bit more? Who's from Nebraska? The modern cars use something other than what's fitted to the SPF? Were I to make a move today, I's take mptech's suggestion but I'm still wide open to suggestions.

Thanks for the advice!

2984, Shell Valley is in NE but I searched their site for a glove box latch and came up with zip. You might try a search on CC, there are several past blurbs about them.
