Default Tired of your car stinking up your house and garage. Anthother MM solution.

I found when i shut the engine off hot the heat from the manifold boils the gas out of the carburator into intake manfold. this stinks up the garage, the house the neighborhood and makes is hard to start when hot since the cylinders are flooded with gas and or vapor lock. Solution is simple. 1/2 phenolic spacer from jegs for 19.99. it is spacer between carb and manifold and insulates the carb from heat. comes with gaskets and studs. Incredible difference!!! no odor and easy to start when hot

make sure you have an elongated air cleaners as the spacer will make the air cleaner sit up into the scoop, where it should be a large round air cleaner will hit the hood outside the scoop.

please note you want phelolic or wood as aluminium is to conductive.

I use a 1/8 -1/4 phenolic spacer from Moroso for all of my carb'd cars.

what an incredible difference! best mod yet. Phenolic has an insulating value 10 times greater than aluminum. The area of the manifold below the carburator was 145F. The carburator just above the spacer was 70F!!!! It was about 65F today outside. I am sure my emmisivity value was not exact on my IR camera but you can see the difference in temp. I also watched the fuel level in my float bowl over a couple hours and it never changed!!! seams they should be standard.
