A few fixes needed, Help?
Hey guys,
I want to try and fix some odds and ends. I was wondering if you can point me in the right direction. My car is #467
#1 My spedo isn't working. Whats the first thing I should look for? Cable or Gauge?
#2 The drivers door has a little slop. It lines up fine, but is starting to wear the paint on the top edge because of a small droop. If I adjust the hinges it will bring it up, but then the gap may not be even. Is there a pin that needs to be replaced?
# E-brake adjustment. Whats the best way to do this? Do I need to take out the pass seat?
Thanks for your help.

E brake adjustment is underneath car. Adjustment nut is on a long piece of all thread.

Unhook the speedometer cable behind the gauge and see if it spins freely on the cable inner or feels like it is hooked to the trans end. If it doesn't spin freely drive the car a little and see if the cable is turning. It may have disconnected at one end or the other or it may have broken. If the cable is good the speedometer can have a cable plugged into the back and it can be spun by hand to see if the needle flickers.

I think you'll find a Wilwood spot brake for the park. Undo the jam nut on the adjust screw, screw it in till it starts to drag when you're spinning the wheel, back it off a little, tighten the jam nut.
Don't mess around with anything you don't understand if you're not sure.

For the door adjustment take the leather door panel off the inside of the door. There should be 3 bolts holding the door to the hinge. You can make the slight adjustment there.

Awesome guys, Thanks...I'll get right on it.
One more thing.
#4 The steering wheel is off to the left a little. The car drives strait. Is there a way to remove the steering wheel and move it over a notch or is the a pin so it only goes on in one position? Would I then need a alignment I guess?

It should be on a spline. Take it off and move it.

Welcome mnm99,
#1 Take steering wheel center cap off, remove allen screws, put wheel in location you like. Some place it, (largest space between wheel spoke) per gauge layout, tach-vision maybe.
#2 E brake adjustment, as said, main adjustment is under car. Had to remove mine and shorten the threaded part to allow it to travel farther without binding on the threaded part. I have the standard brakes though on mine. Nothing fancy. And even after doing this, I'd not put a lot of FAITH in them holding the car if you have the same setup. I think the E-brake cable routing for this system just binds them to much.
#3 Speedo, check the 45 angle adapter between cable and speedo. I've seen this item freeze up where cable connects to it.
#4 And for what it's worth, not seen anyone mention this. Check the upper rear shock mounting arm to main frame. Bolts that were used to mount these to the frame were small, only 2, and allowed the upper shock mount arm, to rest on the threads. Think you may have said your car had low mileage, so yours shouldn't be to bad yet. Depends on how it's been driven before you though. Performance unlimited ( cobra valley ) may also be the name of company, has a good item for this fix. Little pricy though.... Just took mine and had area welded to it, above and below. Now 4 mounting ( right length bolts ) not resting on any part of the threads.
Many on here know way more than I about the SPF cars. You'll get good advise. And sometimes,,, well sometimes just take it with a grain of salt..
Best wishes, and respect that car, you know the reputation of a COBRA.

IF you send me your email offline, I will send you a few service Bulletins that will be of interest. Door adjustments, is among them.
Depending on how far off you steering wheel is it could just be the mounting screws off by one hole.

PM sent. Thanks. I took off the large nut on the wheel. Just pulled it and went 2 notches to the left. Tightened it back up. It feels pretty tight. I didn't feel like there was a certain way it has to go on like my Camaro. It had 1 big notch and could only go on one way.
I adjusted the door. All good
Speedo I took out of the dash. I couldn't remove the 90*, but wouldn't turn when it was connected to the cable. I put a small screw driver to turn the speedo when i disconnected it and quick bursts it moved. Couldn't check the cable
If I need a speedometer reverser what one do I need? I see Autometer sells them. Is this one correct?

Let me help you out. YOU NEED TO JOIN SCOF. Their tech library is incredible for SPF owners. Randall Thomas the moderator forgot more about SPF, engines, polishing than most will ever know. This is a fantastic forum with a ton of good discussion. SCOF is broke up into a library and a forum. I never use the forum but the library has paid for the membership 100 fold.
