They are reproductions. The originals are a mix of early 60's Ford pieces, Falcon, Econoline, F -Series etc. All of the pieces seen are available.

The details on this car are outstanding. We can do the same with any new SPF MK II but it does cost extra. The Galaxie clock is the most expensive item. They are getting scarce and all need to be rebuilt/restored to look and operate as expected.

Hey Guys! So made a little change and added painted wire wheels and Blockley "Dog-Bone" tyres. Really gives it a vintage look. What do you guys think?
Larry

Here's how it looked with the chrome wire wheels and whitewall tyres.

I like the painted wheels. What size tires did you use? This combo looks good.

I like the change! Your car is beautiful! I wonder why SPF couldn't have a similar rocker profile with their 427 cars?

Beautiful Larry! I didn't think there was room for improvement, but this does make visual difference. This is surely one of the nicest Cobras on the site.

SPF hit a home run with the 289 shape no doubt about it. When the 427 was conceived and built they based its shape on a Contemporary replica which was - and still is - very mistakenly revered as "the most accurate Cobra replica".(according to the - ahem - experts, anyway)

They are Blockley 205/70VR-15's. GREAT ride over the Firestones.

You can thank Ross Henry for the accurate 289 body.

There's a little story behind that windshield decal!

Beautiful car. Given my experiences topping off my 427 though, the fill location of the 289 just invites troubles. Any slop will end up in the cockpit or wend its way around the trunk's weatherstripping. Don't ever let someone else fuel the car.

Hmm, haven't had issues with that. It refills nicely, and fuel nozzles always autostop where they should.

I carry a Glock 19 daily, and NO ONE fuels that car but me

Ross,

I'll jump in on this, but I believe you probably already know the story. It's the COCOA windshield decal. I think I sent you some.

The originals were water-slide type decals, not to be confused with the clear acetate re-pop versions now being sold through C.R., etc.

The originals had the maker's name on the back. Weelll, an original CSX owner found his unused decal when he joined COCOA back in the day, going through old papers and sent it to me. I found the original company, who no longer does water slide decals, but steered me to the guy who did them originally. He retired, but has a business on the side doing the water slides and he made another run for me.

They are EXACTLY like the originals, down to all the info printed on the back.

I have some left, and will part with them for small change each. Just PM me if anyone is interested.
