Default Passenger side seat tracks

Does anybody know if passenger side seat tracks are available or if driver side seat tracks can be used interchangeably on the passenger side?

Has anybody made this modification and have any tips?
Thanks...
Bob

I pulled both seats out when I was cleaning it, and didn't think there was any difference in the rails (at least in my CSX car). In fact, I'm equally certain the seats were the same too.

After reviewing my original post, I discovered that I neglected to mention that I am trying to make the passenger seat adjustable... like the driver side. So a better question would be: Does Superformance make an adjustable passenger seat track or are they interchangeable?
Sorry for the confusion.

Mine were also adjustable, and like I said as I recall, identical. It ought to be simple to take the passenger seat out and see if the rail holes line up properly. The bolts do mount to the frame so they can't be too far different.

Have one in my Backdraft. If you go to thier web site, you will see them listed
in the parts area. I think they are about $60.

I think you're looking for these:

Seat Track

And I can't think of a better place to get them from.

O.K. at this point I'm stumped… the current seat tracks from Hillbank are a new design and they are not sure if they will fit my older car. I am waiting for an email with a photo to see if they will work. If anyone has a adjustable older Superformance seat track that is sitting around gathering dust and they are hoping to turn it into cash, please PM me. My car # is 1473 so something in that range should fit. I would really appreciate it.

I just got an email with photos and they look completely different... so if I wasn't so anal about having both sides the same I could probably make them work. Buying two sets is not in the cards. At this point I am willing to wait for a more compatible set and move on to some other winter projects.

Jeff, if you can find yours you just might be my Santa. LOL

The final chapter of the Adjustable Seat Tracks saga has been written. In response to the request by Blas in the thread entitled
"Superformance removable seat cushion" I have enclosed some photos of the bottoms of both the drivers side and passenger side seat tracks.

Drivers side

Passenger side

The only modification to the drivers side was to cut off the right angled handle on the adjusting rod, rethread it and attaching a new adjusting handle.
On the passenger side there was a bit more to do. In the original configuration the seat is bolted to the floor with 1 1/4 inch aluminum spacers. The bolt spacing on my sourced seat tracks was a bit off and required slightly enlarging the holes in the floor with a file. Other than that, it was a fairly straight forward job of attaching the "new" seat tracks to the seat. I also cut off the original adjusting rod handle and modified it to match the drivers side.

The new tracks offered by Superformance are a completely different design and would not work if you are trying to modify them to look like "original style" seat track adjusters.

New Superformance design

In all honesty the biggest problem was finding a set of seat tracks. Many thanks to Jeff Gagnon for searching through his stash of parts and finding a set, without his efforts this project probably would not have happened. Thanks again Jeff.

Excellent, can you clarify this statement a bit.
"...cut off the right angled adjusting rod, rethread it and attaching a new adjusting handle..." I'm not clear on this as both sides look identical in the photos.
It also looks as if the tie rod between right and left sliders is different (copper color wire)
It appears as the adjuster handle will always be to the right. So the drivers side it to the center of the car and the passengers is to the outside of the car when installed.
Not able to be reconfigured to both be to the inside?
Has anyone ordered both seats adjustable from the factory with both adjusters to the inside of the car?
Thanks so much,
Blas

Blas,

To further explain what I did… there was a two fold purpose to this project: the first was to give a more period correct look to the seat track adjusting rods and the second was to make the passenger seat adjustable. As you know Superformance simply bolts the passenger seat to the floor. If it is possible to order a car with both seats adjustable is unknown to me, but with the new style seat tracks it appears that it would be possible.

The new adjusting handle was made from 5/16 rod, heated and bent to approximately 15° and threaded at each end to accept a threaded sleeve at one end and the Leveroll knob at the other as shown in the following photo.

You are right, in the photo the passenger seat has a copper wire controlling the adjustment on the seat lever. It has since been changed to a larger diameter brazing rod which is what Superformance appears to use.

I did try to modify the track to make the adjusting knob be a mirror image of the drivers side and have it next to the transmission tunnel, but it turned out to be a much more difficult job than I was willing to do. If I had another set of seat tracks I would have tackled the problem, but with only one, hard to find set, I wasn't willing to turn them into a sacrificial lamb. There is precedent for having it on the outside… here is a photo of csx 2425.

I hope this clarifies my earlier response.

Thanks Jeff for the kind words… a real compliment coming from you.

Bob

twobjshelbys has commented in this thread that his CSX seats, sliders and frames were identical(I think that's what he's saying).

Can anybody confirm if SPF seats (2xxx series) are identical left vs right? I want to remove the seat tracks on mine (too cold to do it anytime soon, or I'd check myself) to gain some additional head room. Perhaps it would be easier to simply swap the seats left to right assuming they are the same??

Cool Passenger side seat tracks

Has anyone tried the Finishline seat tracks on a Superformance passenger seat?

I'll answer my own previous question and confirm that my own testing/experience with 2256 indicates that the seats are identical left vs right.

Does anyone know if the Finishline seat tracks will fit a Kirkham?
