Beautiful Street Roadster (Black / Tan)
Just popped up today on Hemmings and Cobra Country.
2008 Superformance MK III Roadster for sale | Hemmings Motor News
You don't see these for sale too often, and this one is a beauty. Most of the Cobras at Hillbank are over 70K, and this one only has less than 2K miles. Is it cheaper because it's a Street Version or because of the 302? Either way, I love the car. Really sharp.

Looks beautiful. It's just a crime not to put an FE in a 427 body car. Why go to all that time and expense and then drop the ball before crossing the goal line? Yeah, yeah, yeah "small blocks can make just as much power" or "FEs are too maintenance prone" or "FEs weigh more" or "I saved a boat load of dough using a small block" or any of a thousand other excuses -- I just don't know why somebody would do it.

That's a sharp looking street car - even with the SBF. YMMV

You forgot one.
"To annoy Patrick."
Get rid of the SB and get rid of the hood scoop. Sorry to all those 427 Street roadsters out there with hood scoops, but there should be no scoop on that thing.

Could there be a reason the SBF had a production run about three times longer than the FEs?
Added: I think Patrickt must be just trolling.

For the same reason they put millions of lives at stake with the Pinto?
Sundude,
That, ehem, "289", is pretty.

well this is the Superformance forum. Truth be told, most of these cars have small blocks. I think a big block in a Superformance is almost nearly as rare as a small block in an ERA. I have also noticed that most of the Superformance Street roadsters I've seen have hood scoops. I don't understand this logic myself. I do prefer the looks and authenticity of a flat hood. That doesn't mean that this car isn't beautiful anyway. Too bad the carpets don't better match the trim. Would probably have been better to go with black carpet? My ERA carpet and interior were tan and were a pretty good match.

I agree. It looks like a mix between the street car and the 427 sc. And it doesn't do either justice.
Don't like the hood scoop, wheels or tan interior. Valve covers say 427. I think it would have been better to stick with one or the other models and not mix them up.
Just my opinion.

To each his own, of course...but to be fair, hood scoops did come on some of the original roadsters, and the COB/COX series that AC produced with the left over coil-spring chassis were fitted with 289s. Many considered those cars to be the best of the breed...the perfect blend between power and handling.
The Superformance Roadster is a pretty good representation of those cars.

I am with Patrick here on the FE engines. I also would prefer the black dash and interior. I tend to think it along with most everything else from Hillibank is over priced.

Actually, I enjoy having both the 289 and 427 engines.
Isn't yours a 428, Patrick?

Yes, my block began life as a 428. She's stroked and bored now though to 447 cubes.

Considering a new build just like the black one would be around $85K, is $15K + discount for less than 2K miles of use not a good deal? Consider that it is also registered as a 66 and you save lots of money in registration and taxes (some states) and lots of headache. I don't know... I guess they seem to be selling them.
