I just believe that the majority of "consumers" on this forum don't have a clue as to how difficult it is for the likes of you, Barry, Keith, or a few others to run your businesses. If it weren't for the people you had to deal with, you all would have an absolute blast though.

Video of the Dyno runs
Here is some video of the Dyno runs. For anyone that has not done something like this it is exciting in an odd way.
I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. The motor is brought above 3,000, the dyno loads it down below 2,800 then the pull is made. In this case to 6,000 and the result is calculated to 5,800.

It was interesting to watch Barry who has obviously done this thousands of times. He starts sitting on a stool, tenses up as it begins. When he nails the throttle he stands up abruptly and you swear he outputs half the HP of the engine.
We had two interesting experiences.
On one of the first pulls which I don't even think was full RPM an exhaust pipe popped off. They are just friction clamped on so I guess it is not that uncommon. BUT to go from loud, to open header loud in the building sounds like an explosion! It shocked me for sure. I would count that as the first time that engine made me poop myself a bit.
Then later (when I was experienced and a cool customer) High in the RPM range the oil pressure sending hose blew. Best I can tell as the hose was losing pressure it whipped around passing the header and lighting the stream on fire. That lit stream then passed in front of the hose connection on top of the oil filter which was an elbow facing right at the cell window. That lit and shot a huge fireball right at the window. It was crazy, Barry who was cool as a cucumber when the exhaust popped of yells HOLY S_IT and makes a b line for the door. He said as soon as he got through the door he saw it was the oil pressure hose, no big deal. Unfortunately the floor was covered in oil and down he went. We could see on the pull data that he shut it down before the pressure dropped so nothing got hurt. It was actually funny when all was said and done except Barry got banged up a bit. Unfortunately no video.
That would be the second time that engine nearly made me crap myself. I wonder what will happen when I get it in the car?
The bad news is that took an hour or so to clean up which was part of what limited the dyno time.

Now I enjoyed that post.....
We all have those kinds of stories. I think we're all numb to exhaust pipes sliding off though, it happens pretty regularly.
Motor sounds really good....
You are correct in your write-up on how the dyno is loaded. That procedure varies a tad bit depending on how finicky the engine is, where the peak torque curve will be, etc. You are basically loading the engine down to the point where it's doing all it can do at WOT...then you back off the water and let it accelerate.

Bad ass motor, I think your dyno numbers are awesome, 600 was the goal but is just a number, Barry, Brent, Keith, all the guys on here who build the best FE's know more than anyone, no other builder is going to make as much power, drive the car down the track and see what your quarter mile time is, then report back... I love the felony heads would love to hear how they compare to a ed head on the same build....

The car which I expected to have in late April, early May is looking like early July.
If you are going to order a Superformance I would double whatever they tell you.
Super frustrating, greatly disappointing. Under promise and over deliver. Pretty simple concept.

Bill,
Now that the "final assembly" has been pushed back, come on down to London Ohio in two weeks and I am sure me or someone else can provide a ride in a 500 HP plus car. Really, its a lot of fun and a great time to pick up tips and ideas for tweaks here and there.

I may do that. I had hoped to bring my own car but I never got a good enough feeling to reserve a hotel room. I wonder if any are available?
What is the best day to be there, I would only likely stay a day.

I think the best day is Saturday when all the cars roll into London. Come in Friday night and then go to the show that day. Plenty of time to see more SPFs and other manufacturer vehicles. May be some rooms left. The Hilliard Exit on I-70 is where the hotels are closest.

Well we are rolling!
Not under power but I guess patience is a virtue. Not a virtue I possess unfortunately.
Car may hit Olthoff today and the build can begin. Everything is there waiting and ready to go.
I am considering a few ways to mute the spinners a bit, they are too bright for my tastes.

This is what they looked like when they were new. Note the wheel color changed as well. Not from patina, that was my own doing a couple of years ago....

I was considering getting Black anodized aluminum and bead basting the recessed parts so there was just a bit of silver showing. I like the dark look of your but I don't think I am willing to wait 10 years.

Just wipe 'em down with some anti-seize, rub some dirt on them, leave them outside in the yard for a few nights, and they'll look great. Not to mention you'll get the added benefit of never risking a broken ear, which is not uncommon with the aluminum spinners.

More Progress
Assembly photos courtesy of Olthoff racing.
A few things to note on the photos. There is a two piece turkey pan, only the bottom is in place.
There is a Oil cooler thermostat installed out of site which is what makes the remote filter different for a Superformance. With an aluminum block I thought the oil cooler thermostat was a good investment. I want it to warm up fast but get cooled under high stress. Barry made it clear that letting the engine warm up before you got on it was imperative.

The black fittings goes with the black, chrome and dark Gray theme of the car. I think I am liking the look. What can't be easily seen is the silver ceramic coated headers with black ceramic coated side pipes.
The stud on the carb is for the Quik_Latch system. It snaps tight and you push the button to get it to unlatch. It looks very clean and does not give away under hood space or leave a point to ping the hood.
