Default Turn signal lever ?

Why is the turn signal lever on the right side of the wheel?
It works well for me until I drive my daily driver and do everything ass backwards.
The other day I tried to flash my lights and instead turned on my wipers.

It can be rotated to the "conventional" location. There is a setscrew ("grubscrew") that prevents it from moving/rotating on the steering column. Take care to ensure you do not put to much tension on the wires. You may need to pull the wire harness feeding the switch to provide a little slack to accommodate the move.

Also because if was on the opposite side of the column, there is a good chance you will snag it with a jacket getting in or out of the car.

+1. It's part of the character of the rest of the dash layout, like the reverse speedometer, Smiths mechanical gauges, and not to mention the Lucas switches and lighting that have built-in planned obsolescence.
