Default Ignition problem

Ignition problem
have a SPF 1400 and went to start the car. Would not start just cranked over and over. Just went on a ride a few days ago.
Check gas OK. Not getting spark from coil to distributor Did a ohms check on coil OK.
Hooked up a test plug light to form coil to distributor and would not spark while cranking engine. I did notice that I would get spark sometimes as I turned the key off. Could this be the ignition module (Duraspark)?

I change the Duraspark ignition module. I replaced the magnetic pickup in the distributor. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor.
Any one have any ideas.

Found the problem (WOW) both Duraspark ignition module and the MSD distributor magnetic pickup where both bad at the same time...

Glad to hear that you were able to get it figured out. Those kind of problems can be very frustrating.

So the burning question is (pardon the pun), which part blew up the other one?

It does happen, but strange for a double failure.
