Windshield
Is there any adjustability to the angle of the windshield on a Mklll?
|
Yes, but only a degree or two. The uprights and the center frame support can be slotted.
|
Adjusting the angle may or will most likely change how the top fits.

It will more than likely will. Moving it back may cause it to be slightly loose, but that would be better than going forward and potentially making it too tight for the top to fit. If it does make it more loose, you could always add some padding to the folding frame to make it tighter.

Yes, if you slot the holes in the stanchions. Of course it will affect the top fit, etc.
Years ago at a "One Lap of America" event at Watkins Glen, Jim Price the factory owner, and I, removed the lower bolts to lean the screen on Dennis Olthoff's MK III back like the FIA cars of old. With that and unbolting anything that didn't make the car go, we got Dennis a couple of seconds off his lap times. |
Thanks for the replys. I have a new Mklll and have tried 3 new tops but none fit. I can get everything connected except for 1 lift a dot and 1 or 2 snaps behind the lift a dot. Need about 1-2” more material. On the 3rd top i just tried, I was able to connect all the snaps and lift a dots if i didn’t connect the top to the windshield. The tonneau fits fine. Next step is for my dealer to have an upholstery shop make some new panels so the top fits.

John,
Let the top sit in the sun for an hour and try again. They are easy when you don't need them, a b!tch when you do! |
Keep in mind, if you fool with the windscreen angle the door side screens will not fit anymore. Perhaps install them to see if the windscreen shifted from its original position when built.
